BACKSTORY -

Rainer was born into a strict family in Sweden. His parents had forced him to go to advanced schools, being very particular about his grades, and forcing him to become a lawyer. If he ever got a bad grade, his parents would get very angry and often beat him. His parents, in addition, were very strict about food, wanting their children to be at a certain weight, so they hid all the food in the house most of the time. Rainer would have to scavage for food in between meals when his parents were gone, but then feel guilty for eating it, causing him to develop bulimia. When his parents found out about his disorder and the way he was eating without permission, they forced him to eat a whole cake in one sitting to "teach him a lesson", and a very horrible one at that. He also had a younger sister and an older brother, who were pretty much treated the same, but Rainer couldn’t help but think that his parents favored his siblings over him. When Rainer was in his late teens, about seventeen, his parents found out he was in a secret relationship with another man. His parents were furious, beating him worse than ever and kicking him out of the house, disowning him as a member of the family. Rainer ran off and started his own detective business, the birth of his new career. He never contacts his family anymore, and doesn’t even think of them as family.
